The flavors of fall are beginning to appear, and here in Ohio, we’re so excited for apple season. Today we’re sharing with you a sweet dessert recipe right from our newest cookbook. The sweet aroma of apples, cinnamon and nutmeg will fill your kitchen and surely stir up appetites!

Apple Blossom Cake By Viola Burkholder (from Lehman’s Sapphire Cookbook Collection)
Ingredients:
1 1/4 C. cooking oil
3 C. white sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 C. nuts
3 C. chopped apples
3 C. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
TOPPING:
1/3 C. white sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 C. chopped nuts
Beat oil, sugar and eggs well. Add flour, soda, salt and spices. Last add apples and nuts. Pour into 9×13″ cake pan. Mix topping ingredients and spread on top of cake. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes.
